BT having gained experience in the Telecoms and ICT marketplaces with over 21 years with BT, Gareth Williams’ final role was as HRD of BT Media & Broadcast, a global service provider and content distributor of TV and outside broadcast programming.
During this period experience was acquired in all forms of resourcing and resource planning, people management and training and development. In the final years with BT Media & Broadcast oversaw the divestment of the Satellite business and TUPE transfer of all the non-UK business, plus transfer of our satellite contracts to the new provider.

News Corp UK & Ireland Limited, is a British-based American-owned newspaper publisher, and a wholly owned subsidiary of the American mass media conglomerate News Corp.
News International offered opportunity to deliver change management and leadership/negotiation training to News Union. Whilst working with News the opportunity to work with Aktrion, outsource supplier of print workers to the newspaper industry offered itself.
Learning and development solution provided to News Union whilst creating a better strategic operation between News UK and News Union.
This culminated in a concluding speech to the News Union National Conferences.

Gareth worked with Aktrion, originally as an independent HR consultant and then later leading our UK HR team. During his time with us Gareth successfully oversaw one of the most challenging transition programmes in the media industry at that time, overseeing the HR activities for Aktrion of closure of our operations at New International Plants in existing sites and opening of new state of the art printing operations in new operating units. Working closely with our client, News International to provide a seamless transition which included redundancy of some of our workers, relocation of others and large scale recruitment, this was a challenge we were proud to deliver.
Supporting this Gareth also provided leadership and people management training to our managers, whilst supporting all the employee communications and employee relations activities across all our media business. At the same time coaching and supporting the managers and his own HR people. I know he was a valued member of the team.
M&L were experts in the provision of specialist ambulance transport. They offered the widest range of specialist vehicles for A&E Emergency Ambulance, High Dependency Ambulance, Bariatric Ambulance and non-urgent patient transport journeys within the United Kingdom and parts of Europe. M&L was recognised as being one of the largest private ambulance services in operation today, providing both a cost-effective and quality service.
Working with M&L Ambulance Service, outsource ambulance service to the NHS, gave new experiences working closely with the public sector whilst leading a private sector business.
The full range of HR capabilities were needed to create processes and procedures for the company, train its managers and handle people related issues. Recruitment and conflict management were critical in this role as the company was ever changing and a deep understanding of TUPE was required as contracts were won and lost, and people transferred accordingly.
